Shannon Algeo (he/him) is a psychotherapist, author, poet and meditation teacher. He holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and his therapy work is attachment-based, trauma-informed, depth-oriented and somatic. He draws on graduate studies in Depth Psychology and more than a decade of teaching long-term private yoga, mindfulness meditation and Yoga Nidra. He describes his role with clients as a collaborator, empathic connector and deep listener, and he believes that what has been broken relationally must be repaired relationally.
He is the author of Trust Your Truth and The Power in Your Hands: Liberate Yourself from Attachment to Technology. The second book looks at how a person's attachment styles and relationship history shape compulsive smartphone habits. It combines neuroscience, attachment, mindfulness and experiential practices. Johann Hari and Marianne Williamson have both given endorsements.
Shannon hosts the podcast SoulFeed, which has featured conversations with Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Sonya Renee Taylor, Victor Ochen and Haben Girma. His Insight Timer page lists him as a Yoga Nidra teacher on faculty at the Esalen Institute and the Kripalu Center. It also says he leads digital liberation programs and offline retreats that help people reclaim their humanity, creativity and attention in the digital age.
He was named one of Wanderlust's "35 Under 35 in Wellness to Watch" in 2019 and one of the "Nicest Instructors in New York City" by RateYourBurn. He has spoken at the United Nations at the "Yoga and the UN Culture of Peace" event, and has been invited to speak and teach at The Museum of Contemporary Art, (RED) and Donna Karan's Urban Zen. Shannon is based in California.
