Zanzibar Yoga Festival 2027

The Zanzibar Yoga Festival is a beachfront yoga festival at Sunshine Marine Lodge in Matemwe, on the coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania. It is for yoga practitioners who want to spend a few days practising, eating and resting by the Indian Ocean, and it also makes room for Tanzanian yogis through a reduced-rate Rafiki place. The 2027 gathering is the festival's third edition and comes in a new, extended format.

What to Expect

The festival begins on Thursday evening with arrival and an opening gathering at 6:00 PM, and runs through to Monday morning. It is a four-day festival, lived out at a single venue.

Friday through Sunday are the full festival days, given over to yoga classes and workshops, with meals and an afternoon snack set between sessions so the days have a natural rhythm of practice, food and rest. On Monday there is a closing session, and breakfast is served until 7:30 AM before the festival ends.

Because the whole program shares one stay, there is no need to travel between sessions. Classes and workshops are included in admission unless a particular session is marked otherwise.

The Setting

Sunshine Marine Lodge sits in Matemwe, on Zanzibar's coast, and is the festival's beachfront venue. The festival happens here from the opening evening to the final breakfast, so the lodge is where you practise, gather and eat.

Meals are part of the festival. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided, along with an afternoon snack, from Thursday evening until Monday breakfast.

Before You Go

Admission covers all yoga classes and workshops (unless otherwise noted), all meals and the afternoon snack, for the whole festival from Thursday evening until Monday breakfast. Admission is non-refundable, so it is worth being sure of your plans before you commit.

The early-bird allocation has already sold out, and regular places remain available until shortly before the festival. The Rafiki place is offered at a reduced price for Tanzanian yogis. It is limited in number and is awarded by application.
