説明
Untethered is an eight-day yoga retreat in Phuket, Thailand, led by yoga teacher Grace Millsap with special guest teachers. It is made for travelers who want to practice yoga in a beautiful coastal setting while also getting out to see the region, eating well, and leaving room for unhurried time. The retreat looks out over the Andaman Sea and its limestone cliffs, and the sunsets are a big part of the appeal.
What to Expect
The days combine yoga, local excursions and open time. Yoga classes draw on several styles and lineages, and the practices are shaped around the activity levels of both the teachers and the travelers, so the program has room for a range of bodies and experience. The aim, in the retreat's own spirit, is to remind you of your wild and expansive nature.
Beyond the mat, you will head out on local excursions around Phuket. There is also time to take part in traditional Thai cooking and then sit down to eat what you have made. Free time is built in, so you can rest, wander, or simply spend time with the surroundings at your own pace.
Thailand is often called the "land of smiles." This retreat looks at it as something broader: a country of varied landscapes, rich traditions and beliefs, and real respect for the rhythms and seasons of life.
About Grace Millsap
Grace Millsap is a yoga teacher, retreat leader and teacher trainer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her teaching blends science, Yogic philosophy and what she calls a quest for magic and joy. She describes herself as a student first, honors asana as one tool among many, and says she is always willing to evolve and (un)learn.
Before teaching full time, Grace spent five years as a scientist, conducting research for UNC-Chapel Hill at the intersection of nutrition, genetics and neuroscience. She holds degrees in psychology from Appalachian State University and biology from UNC-Charlotte. She completed her first yoga teacher training in 2013 and began drawing connections between modern science and Yogic philosophy right away. In 2016 she began teaching full time.
The Setting
The retreat is based on the Phuket coast in southern Thailand, where the Andaman Sea is dotted with limestone formations. Excursions explore the surrounding area, and the schedule leaves space to enjoy the landscape on your own.
Before You Go
No specific experience level is required. Because classes span multiple styles and are adapted to the group, the retreat suits a range of yoga backgrounds. The program includes yoga classes across several styles and lineages, local excursions in the Phuket region, opportunities to take part in traditional cooking, and free time for independent exploration.
