説明
Unravel is a Scaravelli-inspired yoga workshop held on Saturday mornings at Wild Goose Space in St Werburghs, Bristol. It is a spacious, unhurried session for people who want to slow right down and deepen their connection with the body through movement and breath. It suits those with their own practice, long-term students and yoga teachers. Caroline leads the mornings, and the groups are small.
What to Expect
Each workshop runs from 10am to 1pm, three hours in which nothing is rushed. The emphasis is on sensation rather than achievement. Instead of holding a posture through muscular effort, you are invited to arrive at it gradually, paying attention to what happens in the body as you enter and stay. Past participants describe a process of enquiry with each asana, a playful and exploratory approach in which you take responsibility for being present in your own experience.
Groups are kept to around eight people, so there is plenty of individual help. Caroline is known for using touch to guide students toward releasing tension, and for finding ways into postures when injury or stiffness limits the way in. Students describe the pace as gentle, with a sense at the end of having learned something and done a good session of work.
The approach echoes a line from Sandra Sabatini often associated with this work: "...no technique to refer to, only an expansion of awareness and a reduction of effort."
About Caroline
Caroline teaches Scaravelli-inspired yoga in Bristol, and the Unravel workshops sit alongside her regular weekly classes, which run as Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening terms with drop-in options. Students speak of her warmth and humour and of a teaching style free of ego or performance. One yoga teacher who attended a workshop said she had never felt her body soften in quite the same way as she did with Caroline's help. Another student credits the classes with easing a longstanding ankle problem and helping him manage stress.
The Setting
The workshops take place at Wild Goose Space in St Werburghs, Bristol, in the BS2 postcode area. It is an in-person gathering, so you will need to be there on the morning.
Before You Go
This is a yoga workshop for people who already have some experience, whether that is your own regular practice, years as a student or work as a teacher. The small group size means you can ask for individual guidance, including if you are working with an injury or stiffness. Several dates are offered across the year, so you can choose the Saturday that suits you.
