Somatic Breathwork & Sound

Somatic Breathwork & Sound is a weekly breathwork class at AKI Sound Studio in Brussels, led by Islay Akhaloui in French and English. Guided breathwork meets the sound of Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls®, and the hour is aimed at anyone who wants to feel more settled in their body, whether or not they have ever done breathwork before.

It suits people curious about breathwork and sound healing in Brussels who would like a regular evening practice rather than a one-off event. No experience is needed.

What to Expect

The class runs on Monday evenings from 19:00 to 20:00. It begins with guided breathwork, which is meant to move what the body has been holding. Once that work is done, the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls® settle you back into stillness. The arc is simple: activation through breath, then rest inside sound.

Groups are small, with sixteen places in the room. The studio's own invitation is to "return to the frequency of you," and the hour is built around that idea of coming back to the body through breath and vibration rather than through effort or technique.

About Islay Akhaloui

Islay Akhaloui guides the Monday evening Somatic Breathwork & Sound class at AKI Sound Studio and teaches in both French and English. The class pairs her guided breathwork with the crystal singing bowls the studio works with.

The Setting

AKI Sound Studio is a studio in Brussels devoted to sound. Besides this weekly breathwork class, it hosts a Wednesday Yin & Sound class, new moon and full moon sound ceremonies, and cacao and sound circles, so the space is set up for deep listening and rest. The bowls are part of the room, and the class takes place in that same studio setting.

Before You Go

- Experience: none needed. The class is open to beginners.
- Language: the class is offered in French and English.
- Group size: sixteen places.
- Class Pass: a pass covers both weekly classes at the studio, Somatic Breathwork & Sound and Yin & Sound. Five classes can be used within three months, and ten classes within five months. You log in when you reserve and your place is covered at checkout.

Because places are limited to sixteen, it is worth reserving ahead if you have a particular Monday in mind.
