説明
This New Year's yoga retreat at Xinalani Retreat in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, pairs a vigorous morning vinyasa flow with gentle evening recovery practice. It is the eleventh annual edition from Euphoria Retreats, led by vinyasa teacher Monika Kaufman and meditation teacher Lisa Carlsson. It suits practitioners of any level who want to begin the year moving, resting and eating well beside the ocean.
The retreat follows what Euphoria Retreats calls healthy hedonism: movement, mindfulness and a little indulgence in balance. Some people will spend free hours on the mat or on the water, others exploring the jungle or simply enjoying a good meal.
What to Expect
Days begin with coffee and snacks, then a short meditation overlooking the beach. Next comes a power vinyasa class, built on intelligent sequencing, mindful progressions and plenty of options, so the practice challenges and supports you whatever your yoga background.
Evenings are softer. The gentle, restorative session draws on SATYA (Somatic Awareness Training for Yoga), a practice aimed at releasing tension, recovering faster and moving with more freedom.
A typical day runs like this:
- 7:00 am to 7:30 am: morning coffee and snacks
- 8:00 am to 8:20 am: meditation
- 8:30 am to 9:45 am: power yoga (vinyasa)
- 10:00 am to 11:00 am: breakfast
- 11:00 am to 2:30 pm: free time
- 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: lunch
- 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm: gentle, restorative or recovery yoga
- 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm: dinner
The long midday break leaves room for kayaking, snorkeling, rest or a walk.
About Monika Kaufman
Monika Kaufman is a vinyasa specialist and co-owner of Euphoria Retreats. She came to yoga the way many athletes do, through the body first and then the soul. Her classes are known for being physically challenging and carefully aligned, with an energy that makes the effort feel lighter. Students tend to leave feeling stronger, freer and glad they came.
About Lisa Carlsson
Lisa Carlsson teaches meditation and loves introducing people to different styles, including breath work, guided practice and mantra-based meditation. She brings more than 25 years of yoga and dance to her own practice, and she approaches meditation as the art of aligning mind, body and spirit.
The Setting
The retreat takes place at Xinalani, on the coast near Puerto Vallarta. Guests arrive by boat, and airport transfers and the boat ride to the retreat center are part of the stay. Accommodation is for seven nights and ranges from palapas to deluxe rooms and Eco Chic suites, in open-air or air-conditioned versions. Rooms are offered at single, double or quadruple occupancy depending on the type, and several categories are already sold out.
