KIRTAN CONCERT WITH SHANTALA

This kirtan concert with Shantala brings an evening of devotional chanting to Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco, California. It is open to anyone drawn to sacred song, whether you come to sing, dance, or simply listen. Benjy and Heather Wertheimer, the acclaimed duo known as Shantala, lead the evening, joined by Vito Gregoli on guitar and bass and Prajna Vieira on vocals.

What to Expect

The concert runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Kirtan is sacred chanting, and Shantala's music draws on deep roots in the bhakti tradition of devotion. Sitar, rich harmonium and soaring vocals carry ancient mantras alongside original compositions, with guitar and bass adding warmth from the Western side of the sound.

The atmosphere is that of a communal celebration rather than a performance watched from a distance. You are invited to chant, sing and dance, or to rest in stillness and let the music reach you. The themes are light, compassion, connection and peace, and the intention is a shared field of devotion where everyone present can take part in the heart-opening joy of kirtan. Whether in stillness or in song, the evening is meant to leave you with renewed inspiration and reverence for life.
