Meditation Teacher
Nando Raynolds is a psychotherapist, life coach and teacher based in Oregon's Rogue Valley. He has worked in psychotherapy, supervision, life coaching and teaching since 1988, mostly in private practice, and describes his approach as a somatic, mindfulness-based one. On Insight Timer he writes that he helps people live mindfully in their bodies, where positive change happens, and that compassionate mindfulness allows people to release automatic patterns that no longer serve them while methodical practice makes new patterns routine.
His work through the Center for Personal Transformation covers individual work, relationship work and somatic work. He teaches Qigong and stretching, breathwork and mindfulness, and Yang Style T'ai Chi, including saber, sword and two-person practices. He also teaches Contact Improvisation, which he finds deeply moving and which brings together his interests in psychotherapy, relationships, martial arts, qigong, bodywork, breath work, mindfulness and meditation. He has facilitated men's groups, women's groups and classes on self-esteem, communication, stress management and self-compassion. His book Transforming Your Inner Critic into an Inner Coach was published in 2017, and he has also published books and videos on T'ai Chi and Qigong.
His postgraduate study includes Hakomi, NLP (he is a Certified Practitioner), Voice Dialogue, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, nonviolent communication and Energy Psychology. He holds a BA in psychology from New College of San Francisco and an MA in Transpersonal Psychology from JFKU. He served as Clinical Director of the Community Counseling Center of Ashland from 2010 to June 2017 and has taught at Rogue Community College, Southern Oregon University and OLLI.
Nando was born in El Salvador in 1960 and grew up overseas and in Washington DC. He has lived in Talent, Oregon since 1989. Outside his work he throws pottery, holds a fifth degree black belt in Karate and Kenpo, and enjoys rivers, hiking, biking and skiing.
