Meditation Teacher
Morgan O. Smith is a spiritual teacher, meditation facilitator, philosopher and author. He describes himself as a certified meditation instructor and brainwave entrainment facilitator, and he teaches nonduality. His own writing on consciousness, nonduality and awakening invites readers to look directly at experience rather than adopt his conclusions.
Before this path, he worked in entertainment as a Gemini Award-winning comedy writer, stand-up comedian and television personality. He was voted one of Canada's top three favourite comics in the Gemini Awards People's Choice Award in 2003 and co-hosted the television show Buzz. A spiritual awakening in 2008 turned him toward meditation, eastern philosophy, metaphysics and brainwave entrainment technologies, and toward helping others find inner peace.
In 2010 he launched Yinnergy Meditation, a grassroots project that encourages emotional, mental and spiritual growth through audio-induced deep meditation. In 2011 he founded the Yinnergy Appreciation Awards to honour young people who have made a positive impact on their communities. He also founded mind@ease, a program in schools within the Toronto District School Board, and has worked as a youth outreach worker. His nonprofit, Bodhi Mental Care & Wellness, offers community meditation and sound experiences. He co-founded the KeMor Centre for Innovative Development with Keda Edwards Pierre, and the centre creates safe, inclusive spaces for healing, growth and development.
Morgan is the author of Bodhi in the Brain, which explains Yinnergy meditation and its use of brainwave technology. His mystical insights inspired Arian Herbert's 2015 book The God Behind The God. He is a lead facilitator at Sacred Media's Integral Mastery Academy and graduated from its Evolutionary Dynamic Mastery Program, led by philosopher Ken Wilber. He has been a guest on podcasts including Guru Viking and Waking the Wild, and he spoke at the Institute for Consciousness Research 37th Annual Conference. His community work has been recognised with awards including the 2023 RISE Community Initiative Award.
