Musician
Michelle Shanti is a musician, singer and sound therapist, and the creative director of Shanti Sound, which she established in 2011 to share the healing and uplifting power of music, sound and song.
She has studied music and sound therapy extensively and has been practising and teaching since 2011. Her formal qualifications include a Diploma of Sound Therapy and a Diploma of Music. She has deepened her experience through retreats with Jonathan Goldman in the USA and with Deva Premal and Miten in NSW. She has accompanied international music artists Jai-Jagdeesh and Tina Malia on their Australian tours, and has performed in Bali with Sacred Earth.
Her work spans yoga music, soundbath recordings, voicework and student voice lessons, including the Light of Your Truth EP and Rise and Shine Mantras. She also hosts a podcast of conversations with other practitioners. Her Sound Sangha Retreats draw on the idea that sound is a vessel for healing, a mirror for self-enquiry and a soothing balm for the soul. Past retreats have included morning practice with yoga or movement, breath and sound meditation, soundbaths, healing songs and chanting, chakra sounds and sacred voice, and workshops on using sound and the voice as a tool for personal wellbeing.
