Clinical Psychologist
Dr Christine Braehler (DClinPsy, PhD) is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist and internationally recognized teacher of self-compassion. She has more than 20 years of experience. Her work brings together evidence-based psychology, attachment science, self-compassion and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). She uses them to help individuals and couples come into their heart energy and build resilient love relationships.
Her YouTube channel describes her as a clinical psychologist, psychological psychotherapist and IFS Level 2 Therapist. It also calls her an international pioneer in self-compassion, and says she has taught it internationally since 2008 as one of the first psychologists to do so. On that German-language channel she shares practical tips and meditations for cultivating mindfulness, self-compassion, empathy, compassion and wisdom in the face of difficult emotions and burdened parts. She also supports others on that path.
Her teaching covers Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), compassion-based parts work with IFS, and Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO) sessions for couples. Her themes include befriending loneliness, easing shame, and "fierce self-compassion" for taking back personal power. She also writes about loving others without losing yourself, and she has published a book on deepening an intimate relationship through self-love. For therapists, she offers professional training in tailoring self-compassion exercises to clients with high shame, attachment trauma and fears of compassion. She also shares a selection of free meditations.
She does not offer treatment for psychological disorders, or clinical or academic supervision.
Worth Knowing
Dr Christine Braehler is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist who has spent over two decades establishing herself as an international pioneer in teaching self-compassion to general audiences and clinical professionals alike. What distinguishes her work is the deliberate integration of three sophisticated frameworks—attachment science, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Mindful Self-Compassion—to address the particular struggles of people navigating shame, loneliness, and relational injury. Rather than treat compassion as a soft concept, she positions it as a psychological skill rooted in neuroscience and evidence-based practice, making her approach credible to both therapists and seekers skeptical of generic wellness rhetoric. Her reach has expanded across multiple continents through her teaching, professional training programs, and free meditations on her YouTube channel. People seek her out because she maps a pragmatic path between the inner work of psychology and the contemplative depth of meditation practice—neither domain alone, but both in conversation. Her doctorate in clinical psychology (DClinPsy, PhD) and IFS Level 2 certification ground her authority; her 20+ years in practice demonstrate sustained engagement rather than trend-chasing.
