Abby May

Abby May is an Australian folk singer-songwriter and solo artist, originally from Gulaga – Mother Mountain, Tilba, on the New South Wales coast, and now based in Sydney. Classically trained in voice, she writes and performs intricate melodies that blend folk, jazz, blues and indie, with a touch of influence from Eva Cassidy and the whimsical art-folk of Aurora.

Her songs capture moments of conflict and beauty, setting the ebb and flow of natural processes beside human perspective. Her voice has been described as silver, angelic, honestly nostalgic, comforting and calming.

Abby is a 2026 Australian Folk Music Awards finalist, the 2025 Emerging Artist Recording Sponsorship winner at the Bundanoon Folk Festival, a second-place finisher in the 2024 Australian National Busking Championships Grand Final, and a St. Cecilia Music Scholarship awardee. Her debut album is titled Into Your Heart.

She is currently studying music at university. Her aspiration is to perform and run songwriting workshops while touring regional and remote areas, where she notes increasing social disconnect affecting youth development and well-being, in order to bring communities together. She is also available for events, performances and tutoring.
