説明
Malte Marten brings his handpan concert to the Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna, Austria, as part of the Healing Frequencies Tour. It is a seated evening of live handpan music and sound for anyone who wants to slow down, breathe and let the outside world grow quieter, whether you already listen to his music at home to sleep, work or meditate, or you are curious what a handpan sounds like in a room.
Malte plays handpan and composes the music. He is joined by Conrado Molina on percussion and voice, and by Bummela, a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Together the trio makes a rich, spacious sound that feels intimate even in a large hall.
What to Expect
The concert lasts about two hours. It is shaped from beginning to end as one flowing experience rather than a string of unrelated pieces: the music, the silence between songs and the stories Malte shares are all part of it. The idea is simple. There is no pressure, no rush and nowhere else to be, just music, presence and room to breathe.
The handpan sits at the centre. It is a steel instrument played with the hands, with a warm sound rich in overtones, a little like bells. Conrado Molina's percussion and Bummela's instruments widen that sound without crowding it. People come to feel deeply, let go and leave with a little more space inside.
Most shows on the tour start at 8 pm, and doors usually open 75 minutes earlier. The exact times are shown on your ticket.
About Malte Marten
Malte Marten describes himself as a handpan player at his core, and also as a musician, teacher and visionary. His path began in 2014, when he came across a video of the duo Hang Massive. He sold all the music equipment he owned as a beatmaker and DJ to buy his first handpan, and he later played on the streets of Berlin.
From 2015 to 2020 he toured with his former duo, Yatao. Teaching became a passion alongside performing, and the duo gave workshops and retreats and co-founded the YataoShop, a place for people to take their first steps with the instrument. In 2021 the duo's musical project ended and Malte began his solo work, funding his first solo studio album through crowdfunding. His videos on Instagram and YouTube have since reached listeners around the world, and his music has reached millions. His work rests on one idea: music can create space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with yourself.
The Venue
The Wiener Konzerthaus stands on the edge of Vienna's city centre, a short walk from Stadtpark, which is served by the U4 line.
Before You Go
All seats at the venue are seated, so this is a concert to settle into rather than move through. Child tickets are available for ages 12 and up. Wheelchair spaces for the Vienna concert are booked through the Wiener Konzerthaus.
